Does Article Forge content Rank on Google? A case study
Skip to the resultsWhen you are trying to rank a website on Google, nothing matters as much as content. So, in this case study, we directly compared content generated by Article Forge to content written by humans to see how well Article Forge content ranks.
To make sure the only difference was content, we held all other factors constant - everything was the same between the different websites in our case study except half used content written by humans, and half used content written by Article Forge.
If the webpages with Article Forge content rank similarly to the websites with human-written content, this indicates that Google views Article Forge content to be high quality.
What we are looking for:- Existence of rankings: We want to see if websites containing only Article Forge content will rank on Google’s SERPs (Search Engine Results Pages).
- Comparison to human-written content: We want to see how websites with only Article Forge content rank compared to websites with only content written by human freelancers to see if Google treats the two types of content the same.
Article Forge content ranks and performs similarly to human-written content.
Methodology
Content
We created a list of 10 long-tail keywords and generated articles for each keyword with Article Forge.
Then, we hired freelancers to write articles about the same 10 keywords and made sure the article lengths stayed consistent between the two content types. These articles were what we consider to be 2-star quality which is about the average level of quality you would see on a personal blog.
For half of the human-written articles, we made sure the keywords appeared the same number of times as they did in the Article Forge articles. For the other half, we made sure there were the same number of keywords as well as relevant terms in each article (more specifically, we made sure the 1-gram, 2-gram, and 3-gram counts for LSI keywords were equal).
Websites
We created a series of new Medium pages to make sure freshness, authority, and other ranking factors were all held constant. We published each pair of articles (Article Forge and human-written) to their respective Medium pages at the same time and we did not build links to any of these pages.
Results
Existence of rankings
Webpages with Article Forge content ranked for 8 out of the 10 keywords.
Comparison to human-written content
The webpages with human-written articles also ranked for the same 8 keywords.
Above are the average ranking positions over time for all webpages with content written by Article Forge and all webpages with human-written content.
Both Article Forge and human-written content quickly started ranking, and without any additional SEO, continued to rank throughout the duration of the case study.
Of course, if this was a real SEO campaign, we would have also built links to each page, but we felt this would have introduced too many additional variables.
Overall, the ranking trends for Article Forge and human-written content were very similar throughout the entire study.
We also monitored how often each type of content appeared in the top 5 ranking positions, as a top 5 result is the primary objective of most website owners and signals that Google views the content as authoritative and high quality.
We found that both the content written by humans and Article Forge content consistently ranked in the top 5 positions on Google.
